Trip by rail to Gornergrat

Matterhorn up close - one of the highlights of every visit to Switzerland, the excursion on the cogwheel train is a truly spectacular experience.

The train has transported passengers to an altitude of 3089m since 1898, you will travel across stunning bridges, through galleries and tunnels, idyllic forests, past gorges and mountain lakes.

The iconic view from the Gornergrat platform is dominated by the Matterhorn, but altogether there are 29 four-thousand-metre peaks forming an impressive mountain panorama completed by the magnificent Gorner glacier, the third largest in the Alps. There are several stop along the journey which are starting points of various hiking and walking trails as well as three different bike routes.

In winter you can enjoy a toboggan run from Rotenboden to Riffelberg and ski pistes down to the valley. ZOOOM the Matterhorn is a multi-media experience that is included in your return ticket.

Children under the age of 6 years travel free of charge. In winter the age is 9 years for free travel.
